Select Committee to consider Lamb's request for Inquiry on Coastal Erosion issues

9.25.00am GMT Mon 2nd Feb 2004

The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee is to consider a request from Norman Lamb to hold an inquiry on coastal erosion issues.

Mr Lamb said: "There are a number of important concerns that need to be discussed by the committee. The Government's approach to the problem and the question of compensation of people who have lost properties to the sea need to carefully looked into."

A decision from the Committee on whether to hold an inquiry is expected in early February.
