7.08.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 2nd Apr 2004

Norman Lamb has expressed his shock over MoD plans to close RAF Coltishall, reported today in the Daily Telegraph.

Mr Lamb said: "This is a double whammy to the local economy if we are to lose both Coltishall and Neatishead. I will be raising this urgently with the Armed Forces Minister asking to meet with him to discuss the sitution."

RAF Coltishall is 1 of 5 bases identified for closure in the press report as part of Government plans to cut £1 billion from the defence budget.
