Overstrand Cliff Path Reinstatement on the cards

8.48.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 18th May 2004

EDF Energy, the company behind plans to introduce an offshore windfarm in North Norfolk, have committed £20,000 towards the cost of re-establishing the cliff path in Overstand should their project proceed. The commitment was confirmed in a letter to Norman Lamb who has been campaigning together with the Parish Council and local residents for a reinstatement of the path which links two halves of the village together.

"I welcome the commitment made to re-instate the pathway," said Norman Lamb. "Since the cliff path was closed due to erosion, it has been missed by local residents who regularly used it to get to the High Street."

The commitment made by EDF includes the reinstatement of the path and maintaining the right of way through the land, and has been included in a draft lease agreement.
