Lamb calls for progress on Cromer Hospital Redevelopment

12.00.00am GMT Wed 25th Nov 2009

Norman Lamb MP for North Norfolk and Shadow Secretary of State for Health has called for urgent progress on the redevelopment of Cromer Hospital

Writing to David Prior, Chairman of the Norfolk and Norwich NHS Trust Norman said:

"I have already given my views on the redevelopment at the public meeting in Cromer and I hope that those views have been noted. I very strongly support the urgent development of this project and I am concerned that any delay in the planning process could have very damaging effects given the state of public finances and the possibility of any new Government calling a halt to capital projects which have not already been started."

"I am obviously disappointed at the scaling back of this project and I have discussed this with you. However, as we discussed following the public meeting in Cromer, I urge you to look seriously at ways in which you could keep endoscopy at Cromer Hospital. You promised to look at all options including the possibility of using the decontamination unit at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital and transporting equipment from Norwich to Cromer."

"I hope very much that there are no further delays with this project."
