Leading medical journal The Lancet has endorsed the Liberal Democrats as offering the best policies for the future of the NHS. In an editorial published on May 1st, the Lancet praised the Liberal Democrats for their policies including incentives for GPs to work in deprived areas and their focus on medical research and improving the health of the population.

Commenting on the announcement, Liberal Democrat Candidate for North Norfolk and Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for Health Norman Lamb said,

"The NHS is a key priority for the Liberal Democrats and it great news to hear that leading experts support our policies.

"Ensuring that the NHS continues to thrive is going to be one of the biggest challenges the next Government faces. We need to ensure that we target our resources on the frontlines to ensure that we spend our money wisely and make sure that we are investing for the future.

"In North Norfolk that means giving residents democratic control over the NHS to protect our local hospitals, improving GP services and equipping the NHS to deal with the challenges of the next decade.
